The Florida Orchestra Announces Rock Concert Series 2013/2014 Season

Three Musical Tributes: The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Eagles

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Following the launch of a Rock Concert series on the 2012/13 season, The Florida Orchestra (TFO) has announced that the 2013/14 season’s symphonic rock series showcases the music of The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Eagles on October 17, November 29 and May 9, respectively.  All three concerts will be on Friday evenings at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.

On the current 2012/13 season, The Florida Orchestra has already presented symphonic rock tribute concerts to the music of Simon and Garfunkel and Michael Jackson, and will perform The Music of The Doors on May 10 at the Mahaffey Theater.  In recent seasons, the orchestra has also presented a variety of successful symphonic rock concerts featuring Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx, as well as tributes to the music of Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Queen.  The positive community response to those concerts encouraged the orchestra to add the Rock Concert series to varied concert menu to reach a wider audience and to better serve the broad musical interests of the Tampa Bay community.

The Rock Concert series is just one of The Florida Orchestra’s recent accessibility initiatives, which include lowering its ticket prices for most concerts, creating more flexible concert packages, expanding the morning Coffee Concert series, and introducing the 3-concert Progress Energy Morning Masterworks series at the Mahaffey Theater.

Based on one’s selected seat section, subscriptions to the 3-concert package are now on sale for $225 and $165 per person, which also includes such subscriber benefits as “Be Our Guest” coupons for complimentary drinks and a waiver of both facility fees and postage and handling costs.  Single tickets are $35, $55 and $75 and go on sale August 12, 2013.  For a series subscription, call The Florida Orchestra ticket center at 727.892.3337 or 800.662.7286, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or buy online at
